How to install Dell 2130cn on my Mac?



1. Download and install the following (order matters!)

http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/gplgs-8.64so-ub.dmg
http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/foomatic-rip-4.0.2.211.dmg
http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/pxlmono-1.6.dmg

2. Go to printer menu
3. Add +
4. Select LPD
5. Address
6. Printer Using -> Select a diver to use (You might have to repeat this step if the option closes automatically)
7. Select Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer Foomatic/pxlcolor
8. Add the printer
9. In your browser type: http://127.0.0.1:631/printers/
10. Click on Set Printer Options for the new printer
11. Change Printing mode: Normal
* If you have duplexer and would like to use it by default: Change Double-Sided printing: On (Flip on Long/Short Edge)

  • Hey, I have a Dell 2130cn. I've managed to install every driver I can think of, including updated Gutenprint. I currently use the driver HP LaserJet 1320 - CUPS +Gutenprint v5.2.9. It allows me to print Landscape when I want, and I use the CUPS interface to alter my options.

    But... I can't get color out of my color printer. I'm not sure how I was able to get it previously; it once worked like a charm. Now, greyscale (using the above driver) is the best I get. Please help!

  • Another option to print in color for Dell 2130cn is to install Dell's OSX driver for the 1320c Laser printer from the following location on dell's website: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=R222498

  • This is one of the huge printer for office use but you can easily found Toner Cartridge for Printers if you are using same printer people are commonly using small and low yield printers now a days beyond these the 3D printers are very small yield rather than ordinary printers.

  • Dan White's suggestion on the Dell OSX Driver for 1320c worked perfect - except one note...I had to go into CUSP at http://127.0.0.1:631/printers/ and select the Set Default Options to Letter versus A4. Other than that, worked like a charm.
